I generally appreciate the album by album move away from hardcore towards extreme metal. Yet for me personally, this is where the balance is perfect. Kind of like Metallica's Ride the Lightning: subsequent albums were more sophisticated and complex, yet less intense, too. Great to come back to, again and again.

Raw and real. They did not hold back on this record at all. The timings and rhythms are so complex and intoxicating in places, especially on New Covenant + the breakdown is to die for. Real shame they ditched this style
